Terms of Use

Version 4 October 2026, 18:00 (CEST). This is the version accepted by the user upon registration; whoever registered before accepted the previous one and is bound by this one from its publication (section 20).

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern access to and use of the RDBK.app website and its associated web and native applications (the "Service"). By using the Service the user declares that they have read, understood and fully accepted these Terms. Anyone who does not accept them must not use the Service.

1. Prototype nature of the Service

RDBK.app is a project in a prototype development stage, offered free of charge for experimental and demonstrative purposes. Features may be incomplete, contain errors, change, be suspended or removed at any time and without notice. The Service is not a finished product and is not intended for professional, production or otherwise critical use.

2. Who may use the Service

The user must be at least 14 years old, or the higher age at which the law of their country allows them to consent alone to the processing of their personal data. A younger user may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who answers for that use and for the data the user shares.

3. Account

Creating an account is optional. Whoever creates one undertakes to give true and up-to-date details, to hold one account per person, to keep their credentials private and to tell us at once of any use they did not authorise: the holder answers for everything that happens on their account. Signing in with Google or Apple also follows the terms and the privacy policy of that provider.

4. No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. In particular we provide no warranty of fitness for any purpose, nor of merchantability, accuracy, reliability, completeness, continuity, security or error-free nature of the data, routes, maps, calculations and any other content or function. The user uses the Service at their own sole risk.

5. Availability, maintenance and interruption

No guaranteed service level is provided. The user acknowledges and accepts that the Service, in whole or in part, may be suspended, placed under maintenance, limited, modified or permanently shut down at any time, without notice and without any obligation or liability on our part arising. We do not guarantee the retention, backup or recoverability of uploaded data and content.

6. Use at your own risk and safety

The navigation, odometer, track recording and similar tools are mere aids and do not replace the user's prudence, attention and judgement, who is solely responsible for their own safety and that of others. Off-road, motor, cycling and other outdoor activities carry risks — of accidents, injuries and damage — that the user accepts voluntarily. In particular the user undertakes to:

• always obey traffic regulations, road signs and applicable laws;
• not consult the device while driving or in dangerous situations;
• independently assess the traversability and safety of every itinerary, terrain or condition;
• check by themselves that they may pass where a route goes: rights of access to private land, closures, protected areas, permits and local rules.

Roadbooks, tracks and points published by other users are not checked by us: not every danger is marked, and they must not be followed blindly. The Service is not intended for emergency, rescue or otherwise safety-critical uses. Information on routes, distances and positions may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

7. Events and their organisers

The Service may allow creating, publishing or following "events", rankings and roadbooks. We do not organise events and assume no commitment to organise, support, keep active, validate or bring to completion any event, competition, ranking or activity, nor to guarantee the correctness of the related results. Whoever organises an event answers alone for it: for the permits, licences and insurance it needs, for the safety of the participants, for its rules and results, and for the personal data of its participants — their live position included — which they may use only for the event. Each participant takes part at their own risk.

8. Your content and its licence

Uploading content (roadbooks, tracks, photos, videos, voice notes, comments, run reports) is optional. The user keeps the ownership of their content and guarantees that it is lawful and that they hold the rights to it. To let the Service work, the user grants us a non-exclusive, worldwide, free licence to host, store, reproduce, convert (into other formats, covers, maps, PDF), show and distribute that content within the Service, for as long as it stays there. A public roadbook may be viewed, navigated, kept offline and exported to PDF by anyone; one the user marks as reusable may also be copied by other users into their own roadbooks, and those copies are theirs.

9. What is private and what is public

The user decides what is private and what is public, and may change it at any time. Public content — roadbooks with their photos and videos, public runs, the public profile, comments — is visible to anyone, even without an account, and may be shared, linked and indexed by search engines. The user answers for what they make public, in particular positions and routes that reveal where they live, geotagged photos and the personal data of other people.

10. User obligations and conduct

The user undertakes to use the Service lawfully and, in particular, not to: infringe the rights of third parties or legal provisions; upload or disseminate unlawful, offensive content or content for which they do not hold the rights; attempt to compromise its security, integrity or availability; extract its content in bulk by automated means (scraping) or get around its limits; use it in a way that causes harm to other users, third parties or us.

11. Moderation and reports

We may, at our discretion and without notice, review, hide, restrict or remove content that breaches these Terms or the law. Anyone who believes that content on the Service infringes their rights may report it by writing to rdbk.admin@gmail.com, naming the content and the right concerned: we look at every report and act on the founded ones.

12. Suspension, closing and deleting an account

We may suspend or close an account, in whole or in part, in the event of breach of these Terms, a request from an authority, a risk for the security of the Service or of other users, or misuse. The user may delete their account at any time from their profile, after downloading their data if they wish: their roadbooks then move to the trash under a generic "deleted user" profile and are permanently deleted after 30 days. Sections 4, 6, 8 (for copies already made), 13, 14 and 19 survive the end of the relationship.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we decline all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages — including, by way of example, personal injury or property damage, accidents, loss or corruption of data, loss of profits or earnings — arising from or connected to the use of or inability to use the Service, its contents, the routes followed or the decisions made based on it. Any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law remains unaffected.

14. Indemnity

Within the limits allowed by law, the user holds us harmless from any claim of third parties — and from the costs it causes — arising from their content, from the events they organise, from their use of the Service or from their breach of these Terms or of the rights of others.

15. Third-party services

Parts of the Service are provided by third parties under their own terms: the maps and their data, signing in with Google or Apple, the videos the user links, the security check on the forms. We do not answer for those services nor for the user's dealings with their providers.

16. Intellectual property

The .rdbk format is an open standard: its specification is public and anyone may read, write and build on it. The RDBK.app software, the trademarks, logos and site content remain the property of their respective owners. No provision of these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights unless expressly provided for.

17. Free of charge

The Service is free of charge. Should a paid feature ever be offered, its terms will be stated before anyone pays for it.

18. Personal data

The processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.

19. Applicable law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Italian law. For any dispute, the court of Lecco, Italy shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory provisions protecting the consumer.

20. Changes to the Terms

We may modify these Terms. The updated version is published on this page with its date, and a material change is announced in advance in the Service. Continued use of the Service after it comes into force constitutes acceptance; whoever does not accept it may stop using the Service and delete their account.
